Knicks F Anthony meets with Martin family
New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony hosted the family of Trayvon Martin for the Knicks’ 103-65 win over the Washington Wizards Friday. Martin’s family, who were in New York to do an interview with CNN, received an invitation from Anthony to come to the game. He met with Martin’s mother and two brothers before the game and posed for pictures outside the locker room.”(It was) a blessing, an honor,” Anthony told the media after practice Saturday. “We all know the tragedy that happened, and just to get in a different space of mind right now, just bringing them to not even the game, but to the locker room in the back, meeting all the players, meeting the coaches, that was the easy part. We had no media there. It was just something that I wanted to do.”Martin, 17, was shot and killed on Feb. 26 in Sanford, Fla by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer. Last week, Zimmerman was charged with second-degree murder but says he acted in self defense.
