Knicks PG Lin meets with fired editor
Jeremy Lin had lunch with a former ESPN editor who was fired for writing an offensive headline that referenced the New York Knicks guard.
Lin met with Anthony Federico, who lost his job last month for writing a headline “Chink In The Armor” that briefly appeared on ESPN’s mobile website.
“The fact that he reached out to me,” Federico said. “The fact that he took the time to meet with me in his insanely busy schedule. … He’s just a wonderful, humble person. He didn’t have to do that, especially after everything had kind of died down for the most part.”
Federico said his use of the phrase, which has been used as a racial slur toward Asians, was unintentional.
According to a report by Newsday, Lin’s family got in touch with Federico after he had apologized for writing the headline.
“We talked about our shared Christian values and what we’re both trying do with this situation,” Federico said.
