Knicks welcome PG Davis to the fold
Veteran point guard Baron Davis officially became a member of the New York Knicks on Monday.
Davis cleared waivers Friday after he was released by Cleveland through the amnesty clause in the new labor agreement.
SI.com reported that Davis signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal.
Davis is expected to be sidelined 8-10 weeks after he was diagnosed with a bulging disk in his back. The Cavaliers acquired Davis from the Los Angeles Clippers at last season’s trade deadline, but the team drafted point guard Kyrie Irving of Duke with the No. 1 overall pick in June.
The 32-year-old Davis has averaged 16.5 points and 7.3 assists in 12 seasons with five different teams.
