Pat Knight may have taken a page from his more outspoken father.

The coach of the Lamar basketball team ripped his charges after dropping a 62-52 decision to Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday.

“We’ve got the worst group of seniors right now that I’ve ever been associated with,” Knight said. “Their mentality is awful. Their attitude is awful. It’s been their (custom) for the last three years. To come out in a game like this, with no emotion and flat, it’s terrible.”

Knight is in his first year as coach of the Southland Conference team. Lamar is 17-11 this season, but the coach has made no secret that things will be different which the current group of seniors depart.

In fact, Knight interruped senior Mike James during his post-game interview and told him to leave the podium since “you don’t have a clue what it takes to win.”
