The Lakers hoped (Kobe) Bryant could bail them out the way he did early in the season, when (Mike) Brown told Bryant the team was still learning the offensive system: “Go get it. I’ll take care of the defense, and we’ll go from there.”

But Bryant, dealing with ongoing neck pain, made a rare admission after the game that he was “definitely fatigued.”

“I should have stayed in bed like I’ve been doing instead of coming to shoot-around,” he said.

Bryant said all the Lakers “played tired,” and Brown saw players “going through the motions.” Detroit guard Rodney Stuckey took advantage of Derek Fisher, Steve Blake and slow weak-side help defense for 34 points.

“It was very disappointing,” Brown said. “Just watching the body language of our guys, it wasn’t good.”
