Kobe watches movies while healing ankle

Kobe Bryant watches movies to heal. The Los Angeles Lakers star tweeted Thursday, one day after spraining his ankle, that he spent the night watching 2012 hits Django Unchained, Zero Dark Thirty and This Is 40.
He added that he got one hour of sleep, which might not be good for the typical human being. But are you going to question Bryant, particularly when he’s angry?
The man knows his body and decided last night that movies would help him recover from a severe sprain, which has him out indefinitely. But he chose the wrong ones: Django Unchained and Zero Dark Thirty were runners-up for best picture, and This Is 40 wasn’t even nominated.
Kobe Bryant is a winner. He needs to watch winners. But maybe he decided Argo wasn’t the right choice, or maybe he’d seen it already. Either way, USA TODAY Sports ranks 10 best picture flicks that should help an NBA star’s recovery:

Let the anger wash over you as you consider this film, which is fine on its own merits, beat Raging Bull.

You can say what you want, but sometimes Julie Andrews’ lovely voice can be the necessary balm on an injured ankle. We suppose My Fair Lady would be a reasonable substitute. But the hills aren’t alive in that one.
6. The Hurt Locker or Platoon
Do you think soldiers complain about sprained ankles? This is war. This needs perspective.
5. Rocky
It’s Rocky. Duh.
4. The English Patient
For one, we could see Bryant rehabbing in a monastery. But really, the man needs his sleep. And while we respect the integrity of the film, this one can put anyone down for the count.
3. Gladiator
Bryant leads the league in technical fouls this season. We’re pretty sure Maximus Decimus Meridius led the league in technical fouls in 180 A.D. Besides, can’t you imagine Bryant turning to the Staples Center crowd and screaming, “Are you not entertained?!”
