Thomas, 40, Knicks’ Healthiest Center
The Knicks are calling the injury a bone bruise and listing (Tyson) Chandler as day-to-day. Still, there are several hurdles the veteran center will have to clear before he returns to the court.
Marcus Camby missed the entire exhibition schedule with a strained calf. Also, Rasheed Wallace is healthy but was held out of the preseason as he attempts a comeback after being out of the NBA for two years.
Both Camby and Wallace could be available by Thursday, but it’s unlikely that either would see substantial playing time. Right now, 40-year-old Kurt Thomas is the team’s healthiest and most reliable center/forward and could start if Chandler isn’t ready for opening night.
