Kyle Lowry Makes Surprise Early Return
The game, itself, was significant because Kyle Lowry returned a month to the day after he was hospitalized in New York, and less than two weeks after he said he could not predict whether he would play again this season.
Lowry’s return is already remarkable. He could not have even imagined being back on the floor this quickly on March 29 when the PICC line was removed from his arm and he was permitted to begin activity.
Without practice time to get Lowry ready – or at least to determine if he was – the Rockets let him jump back in with game time.
“I wanted to play the last game,” Lowry said. “Coach said ‘no.’ Tonight, he let me go out there. I said I wanted to play. After the day I practiced (Thursday), I felt great. Coach didn’t want me to play the Lakers game. Tonight, was an opportunity to play so he let me.”
“Things happened really fast. The training staff did a great job. I committed to getting back to sooner than later.”
Asked how he felt, Lowry said “awesome.”
