The Los Angeles Lakers’ point guard woes just got worse.

Lakers guard Steve Blake will undergo laparoscopic surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn abdominal muscle and will miss at least 6-8 weeks, the team announced Monday.

Blake was diagnosed with an abdominal strain on Nov. 12 and has missed the Lakers’ past 10 games. Blake’s extended absence leaves with no depth at point guard.

Steve Nash is out with a non-displaced fracture in his left fibula. He has not played since Oct. 31, and the Lakers said in early November that he would miss at least a week. On Nov. 17, the Lakers said Nash was out at least another week and would be re-examined Thanksgiving weekend. Los Angeles has not provided an official update since then.

Under new Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni, Nash is expected to play a key role in the offense. But until he’s back … that leaves veteran Chris Duhon, a backup in the past three seasons after a couple of years of starting for the New York Knicks, and rookie Darius Johnson-Odom, who has played just six minutes in four games this season, as the Lakers’ only true point guards.

The free-agent market for point guards is not deep, though veteran point guard Mike Bibby, who played for the New York Knicks last season, is available.
