Lakers, Suns Complete Steve Nash Trade

The Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns have agreed to a sign-and-trade for Steve Nash, according to sources close to the situation.

The Suns will receive the Lakers’ first-round picks in 2013 and 2015 and second-round picks in 2013 and 2014.

The deal will become official on July 11, when the league’s moratorium ends.

The New York Knicks were attempting to acquire Nash, but sources close to the situation say the point guard preferred Los Angeles. Kobe Bryant aggressively recruited Nash, which also factored into his decision.

Last season, Nash averaged 12.5 points and 10.7 assists with the Suns. The 38-year-old point guard is a two-time Most Valuable Player and eight-time NBA All-Star.
