Lin: I Might Be a Knick if D’Antoni Stayed

If Mike D’Antoni, who was expected to make his Lakers coaching debut Sunday night, still were coaching in New York, then Jeremy Lin probably still would be playing at the Garden. So says Lin.

Of course, it’s all theoretical and nothing can be claimed with certainty, but the man behind “Linsanity,” the pun-laden fervor that swept across the globe last season, said Sunday it’s likely he would still be running D’Antoni’s system. Lin left the Knicks after they declined to match Houston’s three-year, $25 million offer sheet in the off-season. And D’Antoni already had re-signed by then.

“If he was still there, honestly, I would guess I’d have a higher chance of being there,” Lin said after the Rockets’ morning workout today. “But I think the decision at the end was a management decision and I actually don’t know for whatever exact reasons. But I really enjoyed playing for him. It was kind of the time of my life.”
