The University of Louisville men’s basketball team has signed a late 2012 recruit, a center from Sudan.

The Cardinals added Mangok Mathiang, a 6-foot-10 center who played last season at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla., according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.

Louisville has yet to announce the signing, but Loren Jackson, who is the coach of IMG’s postgraduate team, told the Courier-Journal, Mathiang may have face NCAA eligibility issues.

“We think there’s some things we’ve got to take care of, but he’ll be there when school starts,” Jackson said. “I have a relationship with coach (Rick Pitino of Louisville) and told him I had a kid that would be a great fit.”

Mathiang was part of an IMG team that had 11 NCAA Division I signees. He averaged 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks last season, turning down offers from, among others, Kansas State, Georgia and Central Auburn, Jackson said.
