Love: Wins Like this Build Character
(Rick) Adelman has been around the track more than once. He’s not the type to turn a cartwheel over a single basketball game. Yet he seemed as incredulous as the rest of us. After the Wolves’ improbable 100-98 victory over the Utah Jazz, Adelman was using words like “unbelievable.”
“It was a win I don’t think anybody expected, the way we played the game,” he said.
Ricky Rubio had a bad night, even missing 5 of 6 free throws. Kevin Love hit 3 of 14 shots. The Wolves committed 17 turnovers, about twice as many as Utah. Yet they turned it up over the final eight minutes and won on a runner by Luke Ridnour as time expired. Clearly the whole dynamic has changed. These aren’t your daddy’s Timberwolves anymore.
“We heard boos early,” Love noted. “We were playing terrible. For us to get a win like this, it builds character.”
