Memphis assistant Luke Walton will go back to his day job after Dec. 7, which means Tigers coach Josh Pastner will need to make a decision soon about how to fill that seat on his bench.

Pastner hired Walton as a fulltime assistant in August, while the NBA lockout continued—with the stipulation Walton would return to his spot on the Los Angeles Lakers roster once the lockout was resolved.

Walton’s final game as a Memphis coach will be Dec. 6 at Miami.
