Magic C Howard has successful back surgery
Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard underwent successful back surgery Saturday.
Howard had an arthroscopic procedure to repair a herniated disk in his lower back.
Although the surgery will cause him to miss the Olympic Games in London, Howard is expected to make a complete recovery in four months.
The All-Star center had a turbulent season with Orlando. He demanded a trade before finally relenting and agreeing to sign a waiver on his opt-out clause to keep him with the Magic through next season.
Howard finished the season averaging 20.6 points and a league-leading 14.5 rebounds. He had missed only seven games in his first seven seasons.
