Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard will have his ailing back reevaluated in 10 days, according to the team’s GM Otis Smith. The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Howard, who was diagnosed with a herniated disc Friday, has no timetable for a return and that the team isn’t ruling out missing the reigning three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year for the upcoming playoffs.“Look, anytime you have a guy on that kind of timetable you’ve got to assume that the playoffs are a 50-50 thing,” head coach Stan Van Gundy told reporters. “So we’ve got to go forward assuming that what’s in our locker room is our team going forward.”Howard has missed the last three games, and five overall with the back injury, and will sit out Sunday’s contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Orlando is 1-4 without Howard in the lineup and has lost seven of its last 10 games overall. The Magic (34-25) are currently sixth in the Eastern Conference standings, three game ahead of New York and Milwaukee.
