Magic Johnson finally sounds ready to stop hitting the panic button on the Los Angeles Lakers’ season.
He’s ready to concede.
“It’s over for my Lakers. No playoffs, no nothing,” the team legend said on ESPN’s halftime show Friday, when the Lakers were trailing the Oklahoma City Thunder 64-48.
Johnson sold his stake in the Lakers and has no formal role with the team. But now that he owns a baseball franchise, the Los Angeles Dodgers, he’s become more vocal than ever about his former basketball team.

He had another tirade in December, at a news conference announcing the Dodgers’ signing of Zack Greinke. And he was a vocal opponent of fired coach Mike Brown and strongly pushed for the Lakers to hire Phil Jackson as coach.
Apparently, watching Kevin Durant drop 25 in one half was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Earlier this season, Johnson compared the Los Angeles Clippers to his former “Showtime” Lakers. Maybe he can jump on that bandwagon, if Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro wants him.
