Magic Johnson to launch TV network
Earvin “Magic” Johnson is launching a basic cable television network targeting black viewers.The 24-hour Aspire channel will feature positive, uplifting images of African Americans and provide opportunities for blacks who have struggled to find work in mainstream Hollywood. The channel will feature recent films, music, comedy, performing arts and shows about faith.The 52-year-old Johnson says he wanted a vehicle to showcase stories written, produced and directly by Blacks.The Hall of Famer’s channel will launch on June 30.
