Welcome back to the weekly college hoops mailbag. We’re getting closer and closer to Selection Sunday, meaning more and more of you are getting nervous about your team’s chances of dancing. We’ll help sort that stuff out for you, and we’ll also discuss some of the bigger picture college basketball news as well.

USA TODAY Sports reporters Nicole Auerbach and Eric Prisbell will answer your questions every week. Send them questions for next week’s mailbag on Twitter @NicoleAuerbach and @EricPrisbell.

Onto this week’s Q’s:

Bolby Crown (@SirColbyBrown): If the Cats run the regular season and win the SEC title, what seed could they receive?

Auerbach: I’m not as good at predicting seeding as Eric is, so I’ll leave this one to him. Keep in mind, though, that without that many great teams in the SEC, it’s hard to boost your tournament resume that dramatically in a short period of time.

Prisbell: Let’s suspend disbelief for a moment to examine this scenario. If Kentucky wins out, that would mean two more road wins during the regular season and a home victory over a team in contention for a No. 1 seed, Florida. It would also mean a few more wins in the SEC tournament, including another one on a neutral floor against Florida. That would give Kentucky at least two victories over top-10 RPI teams (Florida). But more than that, it would establish that Kentucky is not only just as good as it was with Nerlens Noel, but that the Wildcats are BETTER without Nerlens Noel. The Wildcats were barely an NCAA tournament team with him. If they somehow establish they are better without him – again, it requires suspending disbelief – then you are looking at a seed around 6 or 7, right around where a Butler or Notre Dame would be seeded. It would also mean that Kentucky would finish the season with no sub-100 RPI losses. In my estimation, they would be right after the middle of the seeding list of the 37 at-large team. Now, will it happen? Unlikely.

Oren Amaranthe B. (@Oren83): Would you still consider Miami’s claim for a No. … [For more on Mailbag: Kentucky's NCAA seeding, Catholic 7 and Indiana or Gonzaga, click here.]
