The Morris twins imposed their will together at Kansas. Now their identical twin act has been reunited at the NBA level.

The Houston Rockets traded Marcus Morris to the Phoenix Suns for a second-round pick, according to a person familiar with the deal. The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because the trade hasn’t been made public.

Marcus Morris is averaging 8.6 points, 4.1 rebounds a game this season. The 6-9 power forward was drafted 14th overall in 2011 out of Kansas, but he failed to crack the Rockets’ deep rotation of power forwards as a rookie and has been overshadowed by fellow 23-year-old Patrick Patterson this season.

Patterson also was traded Wednesday, as the NBA’s 3 p.m. ET Thursday trade deadline approaches.

Markieff Morris is a Suns role player, averaging 7.3 points and 4.3 rebounds a game. The identical twins don’t play the same games, with Marcus serving as the skilled scorer and Markieff the tough rebounder.

As juniors at Kansas, Marcus averaged 17.2 points and 7.6 rebounds and Markieff added 13.6 and 8.3 for a team that went 35-3 and reached the Elite Eight.

The Rockets already were set up to have plenty of cap space available this offseason to pursue Josh Smith and other free agents, and this trade should help them in their pursuits.
