In case you haven’t seen Marshall Henderson yet, he’s quickly become college basketball’s emotional, flamboyant and fan-taunting star player who’s spearheaded Ole Miss to a 17-2 start and 6-0 conference start behind an SEC-leading 19.2 points per game.

Most players let their play on the court do the talking. Henderson prefers to do both, evidenced by this epic GIF from Ole Miss’ win over Auburn on Saturday in which Henderson angered Auburn fans with a jersey-tugging taunt.

In Tuesday’s highly-anticipated SEC clash with John Calipari’s young Kentucky team, Henderson had more hot-head antics. Only this time it was his own coach and the Ole Miss student section he was unfriendly to.

As Henderson gradually becomes a nemesis to SEC foes, the Ole Miss faithful have embraced him (Check out this life-sized sign). Yet Henderson was seen throwing ice into the student section after fans threw it on the court in reaction to a bad call. Teammates then encouraged Henderson to keep his composure.

Henderson was then shown feuding with coach Andy Kennedy on the ESPN broadcast. They were both jawing at each other before Kennedy directed Henderson onto the floor.

ESPN analyst Dick Vitale, shortly after the confrontation, tweeted:

“Wiltjer giving UK chance Do u think Andy Kennedy can relax at night? Everytime phone rings his heart must stop worrying about Marshall.”

Henderson had 16 first-half points, despite 1-for-7 three-point shooting, while the Rebels led the Wildcats 38-37 at halftime.

“The guy stands up on defense,” ESPN analyst Jay Williams said critically of Henderson on a halftime broadcast.

But what we’re learning is that Marshall’s shot-launching stat line is unimportant and the main reason he’s so fun to watch is because of what he does when he’s not drilling long-range jumpers.
