Matt Barnes Heaps Praises Upon Clippers
After seeing the Lakers’ decline up close the last two seasons as a reserve, the 32-year-old (Matt) Barnes signed a veteran’s minimum deal to play for Los Angeles’ “other” NBA team in the offseason and has since returned to his edgy, high-energy, winning ways.
When asked how this team compares to other playoff teams he has been a part of – from the “We Believe” Golden State Warriors that shocked Dallas in the first round in 2006-07 to the Orlando Magic squad that fell in the Eastern Conference Finals in 2010 or the Lakers teams that lost in the Western Conference Semifinals the last two postseasons – Barnes put these Clippers near the top.
“We’re up there,” he told USA TODAY Sports. “This is arguably the most talented team I’ve been on. It’s still early, but the depth is tremendous, the communication is tremendous, and I think we all get along on and off the court.
“I think Vinny does a great job with all of our talent and managing that. Letting guys play through mistakes. As long as you’re playing hard, you get to play. This is right up there with that Golden State team as far as chemistry, having fun, and being with a great group of guys.”
