Dallas Mavericks shooting guard Vince Carter is sidelined indefinitely with a mild sprain of the left foot, the team announced on Friday.

The oft-injured guard hurt his left foot during a 3-point attempt in Monday’s 73-70 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

X-rays were done immediately after the game and revealed that Carter did not not suffer structural damage.

Carter missed Wednesday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers and Thursday’s tilt versus the Utah Jazz. He is not expected to play on Saturday against the New Orleans Hornets, but no timetable has been divulged for his return.

The 35-year-old Carter was acquired by the Mavericks via waivers at the start of this season and is averaging 9.5 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
