Delonte West not allowed to visit White House
Dallas Mavericks guard Delonte West will not be able to join his teammates at the White House on Monday because he has a criminal record.
The Mavericks confirmed that West did not pass the White House’s background check, thus he will not be in attendance as President Barack Obama honors the reigning NBA champions.
West was arrested in 2009 after being pulled over while riding a three-wheel motorcycle. Police found three guns stashed in a guitar case he was carrying and he later pleaded guilty to weapons and traffic charges.
West will visit family in the D.C. area while the team is honored. He will then rejoin the club on its road trip.
