Melo, Joseph Sent to D-League by Celtics

The Boston Celtics today assigned rookies Kris Joseph and Fab Melo to the Maine Red Claws, the Celtics’ NBA Development League affiliate, it was announced today.  The assignments are the first for both Joseph and Melo and the sixth and seventh overall of the 2012-13 NBA and NBA D-League seasons.

Melo (7-0, 215, Syracuse) was also selected in the first round, 22nd overall, by Boston in the 2012 NBA Draft and appeared in eight preseason games with the Celtics, scoring two points and grabbing ten rebounds in 47 minutes.

Joseph (6-7, 210, Syracuse) was selected in the second round, 51st overall, by the Celtics in the 2012 NBA Draft and appeared in one preseason game for Boston.

Both players are expected to join Maine today and participate in the teams’ training camp.  The Red Claws tip off their 2012-13 season at the Los Angeles D-Fenders on November 30.
