Miami C Johnson ruled ineligible

University of Miami center Reggie Johnson was declared ineligible for receicing impermissiable travel benefits.

The school made the announcement prior to Sunday night’s game against intrastate rival Florida State.

A release from the university said Johnson was unaware the benefits, which were provided by a former member of the coaching staff, were impermissible.

The 6-foot-10 Johnson is averaging 10.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per game this season.

The school requested a quick decision by the NCAA on reinstating Johnson’s eligibility.
