Mike James’ veteran-minimum salary is guaranteed for the rest of the season.

The Mavericks had to make a decision on whether to commit to the 37-year-old reserve point guard or let him go after his second 10-day contract expired Sunday night.

“He’s done a really terrific, solid job since he’s been here,” coach Rick Carlisle said. “So it’s good news for us.”
