Miller has classy Hall of Fame speech
By Reid Cherner, USA TODAY
Reggie Miller could be a brat on the playing floor. His trash-talking and his gestures didn’t endear him to everybody.
But no one could call Miller’s Hall of Fame speech over the weekend anything but classy.
Miller was presented by Charles Barkley, Magic Johnson and his sister Cheryl Miller.
He of course thanked all of them profusely but then in an endearing and funny speech thanked everyone who ever played, coached, did broadcasts or drafted him.
Even the state of Indiana got a shout-out.
Then when he was finished with his professional world he thanked his family from his sister to his parents to his nieces and nephews.
And the end of the speech he explained why he didn’t trash-talk Michael Jordan and then admitted to getting away with something offensive fouls that weren’t called. “Yeah, I pushed. The ref didn’t call it, I went with it. So I apologize.”
