Miller steps down as Blazers president
Larry Miller surprisingly resigned as president of the Portland Trail Blazers after five years on the job, the team announced Saturday.
Miller told the Oregonian that he is returning to Nike as president of Brand Jordan. It is the same job he had with the company from 1999-2006.
“It felt like it is the right time, and the right thing for me,” Miller said.
Miller helped oversee the team’s hiring of general manager Neil Olshey in early June.
The Trail Blazers returned to the playoffs for the first time in six seasons in 2009 as well as in 2010 and 2011 under Miller’s tenure. However, Portland missed the postseason after going 28-38 last season.
