The Minnesota Timberwolves, who will begin training camp Oct. 2, have 13 players with guaranteed contracts, including big men Nikola Pekovic, Kevin Love Andrei Kirilenko and Greg Stiemsma.

But Wolves President David Kahn is considering adding another big player through free agency. Kahn has several candidates in mind, he said Sunday, Aug. 26, but all he can offer is a veteran minimum deal of about $1 million.

Kahn took Kirilenko and his wife to dinner in Istanbul while scouting him there last spring. Kahn said he liked what he saw of the 6-foot-9, 235-pounder playing for Russia in the London Olympics.

“He moved very well and looks very fresh right now, and I think he’s really going to help us,” Kahn said.
