Morgan State coach Todd Bozeman has been suspended indefinitely with pay after a brush up with senior guard Larry Bastfield during Saturday’s victory over South Carolina State, the Baltimore Sun reported.

Bozeman contends it was “accident contact” with Bastfield, although South Carolina State president George E. Cooper said he witnessed the incident and thought that the coach punched the player in the face. Cooper summoned campus police during the game to ask the player about the possibility of bringing charges against Bozeman.

The school detailed that it has begun its own investigation into the incident.

Athletic director Floyd Kerr told Bozeman that he needed to “separate” himself from the team and have no contact with players or coaches until further notice, the newspaper reported.

Bozeman maintained that he did not hit Bastfield in the face and both parties have said that the incident has been blown out of proportion, according to the newspaper.
