Lakers fight through injuries vs. Spurs

It has to be white flag night at Staples Center on Friday night, right?
All those Los Angeles Lakers injuries that led to their 2-0 deficit against the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference first round series, the weeks of scratching and clawing to get into the playoffs only to have the medical chart grow so impossibly long once they got there. This is classic silver lining time, that point of surrender where a battered team takes pride in the way it fought but knows in its heart of hearts that the end is near.
Or, according to Lakers center Dwight Howard, not at all.
“We’re not going to go down,” Howard defiantly told USA TODAY Sports. “We’re going to fight. There’s no (mentality of) ‘we’re going to go down fighting.’ We’re going to fight. We’re going to keep fighting. We’ve got a lot of bodies, some strong players, so we’re just going to keep fighting.
“I want to win, you know what I’m saying? It seems like everything is not going our way, but I’m going to fight through it. I’m a fighter. I’m not going to quit on these guys. I’m going to show them that they can ride my back. It’s not over. It’s only two games. You’ve got to win four.”
