NBA Adds More Scouting Rules to Lockout
The NBA recently sent a memo to its teams outlining additional restrictions for scouts. Among the changes:
• Team personnel are not permitted to attend any national team or international professional games to scout a player that was on an NBA roster last season or was a 2011 draft prospect. The only loophole is if the player in question didn’t finish last season on an NBA roster or team has received advance approval from the league. If such a rule had been in place at the start of the lockout, NBA teams wouldn’t have been able to scout most FIBA tournaments this past summer.
