NBA AM: Another NBA Power Ranking

Posted By Steve Kyler On November 20, 2012 @ 10:59 am In All,NBA | No Comments

I Can Rank Them Too:  HOOPSWORLD’s Eric Pincus handles the Power Rankings for the site, but this year I thought it would be fun to offer a sometimes conflicting view of the world. So while Eric’s Week 3 Power Rankings went live yesterday, here are my rankings today:

Wade Is Still Banged Up:  HEAT star Dwyane Wade is still nursing a bruised foot that cost him the last two HEAT games. Wade admitted that he probably should have sat out the Clipper game to heal a little more, but that the appeal of the matchup was too good to pass up.

“I didn’t do myself any justice playing in that game,” Wade said to Michael Wallace of ESPN.com. “I could have used the extra rest, and maybe I could have been back by the Phoenix game on the road, or I really could be ready going into the game Wednesday.”

Wade admitted he did a little more damage to the injury playing last Wednesday.

“It was just a big game and you want to play,” said Wade. “You look back and say to yourself, ‘Uh, maybe I shouldn’t have done that.’ But you make your mistakes and you learn from them.”

“You’d like to say you’ve gotten smarter from it, but I’m 10 years in. Sometimes I make the right decision, sometimes I haven’t. Everyone goes through something. You’ve just got to deal with it. Sometimes you can deal with it and play through it. Sometimes you’re hurting yourself even more. You’ve got to do what’s smart.”

Wade’s status is still listed as day-to-day, while teammate LeBron James is battling the flu that hampered him over the last week.

The HEAT have four home games starting Wednesday, giving them almost 11 days at home to recover.

The HEAT are 8-3 on the season and have the Bucks, Cleveland, San Antonio and Brooklyn on deck.

Darko Out, Kenyon Martin In?:  Word from Boston is that Celtic big man Darko Milicic is taking a leave to be with his ill mother in Serbia.

Yahoo!’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Darko could miss the balance of the season, while the Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn is hinting that if Darko is out, Kenyon Martin could be a viable replacement.

Martin has done the dance with several NBA teams, but was unwilling to sign for the NBA minimum and was unwilling to take a non-guaranteed deal.

The Celtics still have about $1.8 million of their Bi-Annual Exception to spend, but are roughly $2.1 million into the luxury tax.

The Celtics situation fits what Kenyon Martin was looking for, and the C’s could surely use Martin rebounding and defense.
