i know your a thunder fan but what if the knicks would somehow make a trade for westbrook in exchange for toney douglas ?is this possible?

    • Susan Bible

You’re either pulling my leg or seriously out of touch. That is an impossible trade scenario unless they throw in, say, Carmelo Anthony, as well. Some time ago, there was talk of a Douglas trade with then-Timberwolf – and expendable – Jonny Flynn. That type of trade is more in line. Douglas, 25, is coming off major shoulder surgery. He’s started in only 21 games in his two-year career. Last year he averaged 10.6 points and 3.0 assists. Westbrook, 23, has been OKC’s starting point guard in 229 games, and averaged 21.9 points and 8.2 assists last season

the knicks cant sign a superstar this year so can they look to sign say carl landry to back up stat or samuel dalembert to a 1yr deal?

    • Susan Bible

I think the Knicks have around $60M tied up in 2011-12 salaries, however they have a huge expiring contract with Billups. Dalembert said he would take a salary cut to play with a winning team (perhaps $5M?) and Landry will probably command at least $5M, so they would have to get creative to make it work.

It is time for the fans to protest now even the president is taking advantage of us.

    • Susan Bible

President Obama is a basketball fan. During his appearance on Jay Leno, he said he was heartbroken over the lockout (diehards, like me, would agree). He didn’t pick a side…just wants resolution, and he certainly can’t command it. I’m not sure how you figure the President is taking advantage of fans. He’s putting together a fundraising basketball game. I don’t see a covert action there.

  4. BB in OKC

By most all accounts, David Stern comes across as arrogant and pompous at best in his press conferences, what say you?

    • Susan Bible

I say David Stern is confident, intelligent, and I would never want to enter a war of words with him.

2 questions: Is Tyreke Evans REALLY 20 lbs overwt? Whassup with that? AND – what’s the latest on KD’s playing in Germany? Can’t say I blame him though. Any other OKC players going abroad?

    • Susan Bible

Draft Express’ Jonathan Givony tweeted this last night: “Sacramento Kings fans wouldn’t be very happy with the shape Tyreke Evans is in if the season started today. At least 20 pounds overweight.”

When asked to expand, he tweeted: “What else is there to say? Out of shape. He’s about 0-6 on 3s & 0-1 on dunks so far.”

Then he tweeted: “Tyreke Evans’ trainer says my tweet on Evans’ conditioning ‘is a lie.’ ‘He’s in great shape.’ Calls me a ‘Laker fan who never played ball.’”

In the middle of all that tweeting, SLAM’s senior editor Rodger Bohn tweeted this: “Tyreke Evans looks like he’s put on a bit of weight during the #lockout.Still takes(and makes)ton of tough shots though.”

It’s no secret Evans struggles with weight issues. I fear he’s not the only player that will return out of shape.

Even Dirk Nowitzki’s personal coach Holger Geschwindner, said “At the moment, Dirk is out of shape” a couple days ago. Yikes.

As far as overseas news on Durant…. His agent confirmed reports yesterday that talks with the German team (BBC Bayreuth) are “ongoing”, but not in final stages. A few days ago, KD said “I’m right on the fence with playing overseas and I’m about to jump over.” Sources said recently that Kendrick Perkins and his close friend, Rajon Rondo, are looking to reunite overseas, perhaps in Italy, Spain or Russia.

With coach K surpassing Bobby Knights all time win mark, how long do you see him coaching? How old is he now?

    • Susan Bible

Coach K is 64 years old. Was that not cool to see him march across the court to hug Bobby Knight following the game to celebrate the milestone? With that 903rd win at Madison Square Garden, Krzyzewski became the winningest coach in Division 1 basketball. Wow…just amazing. Coach K is now in his 37th year of coaching. How long he plans to stay is really anyone’s guess; in fact, he said as much after the win.

Seems we could be watching a lot of college basketball this winter. Who are the top 5 prospects we should be watching?

    • Susan Bible

Here’s who I will be watching closely: Jared Sullinger, Harrision Barnes, Austin Rivers, Anthony Davis, John Henson (7’6″ wingspan!)

Condolences to all OK readers in the yet-another OSU tragedy. What are your thoughts? Why on earth was the football game not cancelled last night.

    • Susan Bible

I can hardly process the fact that OSU has to deal with yet another airplane tragedy affecting their basketball program. It’s just tragic…I, too, offer condolences to all families and friends affected. News on the subject has been practically non-stop around here. As far as that now-critical football game last night. I’m no OSU fan, but for Pete’s sake, it seems like they should have postponed it. Naive thinking on my part? Perhaps…but that’s my heart speaking. And I feel for Iowa, too. It may well be the biggest win in the school’s history, but it will forever be tagged as a game where OSU was still in shock and grieving.

Does a NYC/OKC NBA finals get big ratings? We know the low ratings the Rockets and Spurs caused in their finals against the Knicks, obviously NY wasn’t the problem. Would the general sports fan have more interest in OKC?

    • Susan Bible

It seems the Thunder has captured the imagination of fans and critics alike with how quickly they’ve moved into contender status. The Knicks will always generate huge interest. So, I would say ratings would be off the charts.

That’s an hour! Thanks for dropping in this morning. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving. I’ll see you here again next week…
