  1. Mardy from BKLYN

If the league gets their way – and the formation of more superstar trios becomes impossible – it will NOT create parity – it will mean that the Heat will win most, if not all, championships from the time they get it together onward. The ONLY way to have parity in the league now will be to allow more trios to form. The precedent has been set, there’s no way to go back.

    • Susan Bible

I agree with Alex Kennedy (he answered the same question in a recent Chat). How many “superstar trios” can really form anyway? There aren’t enough truly elite players to accommodate trios on every team, that’s for sure.

  2. LSO

Know you’re tired of my always asking about the Lockout – but why do they only meet sporadically? Why can’t they meet every day until a resolution is achieved? It’s not like the players have a practice to attend – or the owners……you get the picture.

    • Susan Bible

Not tired of your lockout questions at all, LSO. As the normal NBA season tip-off date draws nearer, the lockout is increasingly on fans’ mind. We just want an NBA season. I totally understand what you’re saying: Why didn’t both sides start meeting right after the lockout started…and just keep after it?

The theory is the longer the lockout lasts, the more eager both sides will be to resolve their differences when it’s crunch time. It’s now crunch time. It looks like the sticking points really boil down to the cap system and the split of revenues.

  3. Tyler

I saw a trade floating around involving, Perkins, Ibaka, and Westbrook for Dwight Howard. As a Thunder fan I would not do this. That is 3 starters for 1. Yes Dwight is the best center in the league, but the Thunder thats way too much considering how young and talented the Thunder are.

    • Susan Bible

I’m a Dwight Howard fan. The thought of him wearing Thunder blue makes everyone in Oklahoma sorta giddy. But you’re right….giving up not only three core players, but all starters? Two of which (Ibaka and Westbrook) have an undetermined ceiling. It’s moot anyway, OKC isn’t big-league enough for Howard.

  4. Hungry

How about a detailed story on who teams might release if the Amnesty clause happens, other than the obvious ones? Any idea for Thunder and Mavs and Heat?

    • Susan Bible

For those that don’t know, one of the CBA proposals reportedly included an “amnesty clause” which provides teams with a one-time opportunity to remove what they perceive as their one worst contract from the books….however, that player still must be paid. Great story idea. ln looking at salaries for the three teams…Robinson, Miller? What do you think? I’d need to study that.

  5. justin

Rudy Gay for Paul Millsap,Cj Miles. Opens up some money for Memphis to resign Gasol. Gives Utah a young superstar SF to grow with there youth. Harris, Hayward, Gay, Favors, Jefferson Burk, kanter,Okur Could be a contending team.

    • Susan Bible

If my numbers are right, that would put Utah at over $60M, and that’s without the rookie contracts contemplated.

  6. trumavs

do you see the mavs making any major trades this year ray allen, jason richardson, kobey.resigning chandler, butler,jj.trade kid, stevenson, haywood, peja

    • Susan Bible

Not so much. With Caron Butler surely returning (UFA – but Cuban will make it happen) and new-to-the-Dallas-scene Rudy Fernandez, they’re probably set for another run. There are wrenches though — will Chandler and Barea return?

  7. trumavs

when will the nba season start

    • Susan Bible

If I had psychic powers, I would tell you.

  8. Freddie

I’m from Toronto. Should I be routing for the players to lose so the Raptors have a better shot at being a competitive team?

    Excited about Valanciunus!

    • Susan Bible

You have every right to be excited about Jonas Valanciunas. Not only did he lead Lithuania to the U-19 World Championship (23.0 ppg, 13.9 rpg) but he won the MVP award. Now a part of EuroBasket, he’s posted 9.2 ppg and .750 percentage from the field. Nice!

Now as far as your first question…never root for players to lose :) .br />
I think people are sleeping in this morning, because I answered every question in my “box” – there weren’t near enough! Appreciate those who did participate. See you next week!
