X-rays confirmed C.J. McCollum has a fracture of his fifth metatarsal in his left foot, Lehigh coach Brett Reed said Sunday afternoon in a text message to USA TODAY Sports.

The Mountain Hawks probably will be without the services of the nation’s leading scorer for approximately eight to 10 weeks, Reed said.

McCollum, who entered Saturday averaging 25.7 points, left the game at Virginia Commonwealth late in the first half. He injured himself on a seemingly routine drive to the basket. He ended up hobbling and needed to come out of the game.
