Nebraska fired men’s basketball coach Doc Sadler, one day after the Cornhuskers were bounced from the Big Ten tournament.

“I have decided to make a change in the basketball program,” the schools’ athletic director Tom Osborne said on Friday. “I’ve had to do some difficult things in my lifetime and I’d say this is as difficult as any of them. Doc Sadler is a good man, an honorable man and I consider him to be a good friend.”

Nebraska dropped a 79-61 decision to Purdue on Thursday.

Sadler guided the Cornhuskers to four winning seasons and three NIT appearances. He finished with a 101-89 mark in six seasons at the helm.
