The Nets’ Andray Blatche has been questioned by the Philadelphia police in connection with an accusation of sexual assault at the team’s hotel early Tuesday morning. There is no indication that Blatche himself has been accused of any wrongdoing.
No one has been charged in the case, the police said, and the investigation is continuing. The police would not confirm that a Nets player had been questioned, but the Nets acknowledged it in a statement, and Blatche took the matter public on his Twitter account.
“Im ok and I didn’t do anything jus was n the area when it happened,” Blatche wrote at 12:21 p.m.
The Nets are in Philadelphia for a 7 p.m. game against the 76ers.
“We are aware of the ongoing police investigation regarding a member of the Brooklyn Nets,” General Manager Billy King said in the statement. “We will have no further comment until the investigation has concluded. All of our players are available for tonight’s game.”
A Philadelphia television station, NBC10, reported that a 21-year-old woman was taken from the Four Seasons hotel to a hospital just before 4 a.m. The woman said she had been sexually assaulted. According to the station, a Nets player was in the hotel suite at the time of the incident, but was not in the bedroom where the assault is said to have occurred.
