Nets Expect more from Brook Lopez
In contrast, (Brook) Lopez’s effort, especially in the rebounding department, had the Nets talking him up big at practice Monday. Asked whether he thought Lopez was poised to take another step up in his fourth season, and whether he thought the 7-footer from Stanford could be a nightly 20-point, 10-rebound player, Nets coach Avery Johnson said yes and yes.
“I think he can,” Johnson said, actually suggesting Lopez might be worth 22 points and 10 boards every night. “It may be 10½ (rebounds), but that’s what’s going to be the goal. So if it ends up being 9.6 (rebounds per game), that’ll be better than 6.6.”
Point guard Deron Williams, who has talked about his desire to play with Howard, said Lopez “should be a perennial All-Star.”
