Nets Frustrations Starting to Boil Over
Deron Williams was already on his way back to the locker room and Avery Johnson’s arms were waving as he shouted at a referee. Prudential Center had risen to its feet and was roaring with boos.
It took nearly 48 games, but the frustration finally boiled over for the Nets in the third quarter Wednesday night, when Johnson and Williams were ejected within moments of each other.
Making matters worse, the outbursts and ejections did nothing to stir a struggling New Jersey squad. The Wizards crushed the Nets, 108-89, on Wednesday night to hand them their fourth straight loss.
“It was a combination of reasons,” Johnson said explaining the ejections, “and unfortunately it didn’t spark our team.”
