Denver Nuggets guard J.R. Smith avoided a serious knee injury during his first game playing in China.

Smith hurt his knee in Sunday’s season opener for Zheijang and was scheduled for an MRI exam, but he was back on the court for Tuesday’s game.

Due to the NBA lockout, Smith elected to play in the Chinese Basketball Association.

Smith, 26, averaged 12.3 points and 2.2 assists for the Nuggets last season.
