The Denver Nuggets began meetings with small forward Wilson Chandler on Monday in hope of getting the restricted free agent to re-sign soon.

Chandler had been playing in China since the lockout. His team, the Zhejiang Lions, qualified for the playoffs but agreed to release Chandler early so he could return to the NBA. Chandler still must get clearance from the Chinese Basketball Association and basketball’s international federation (FIBA).

“We’re on the same page with him. We’re just waiting to see what the timing is going to be with that,” Nuggets general manager Masai Ujiri said.

The Nuggets can use a boost from Chandler, who is eligible for as much as a five-year deal.
