Before Sunday’s Big Ten rumble with Indiana, Ohio State played a video clip of former alum and legendary Hoosiers coach Bob Knight making a subtle dig at IU in favor of his alma mater.
Knight played for OSU’s 1960 national championship team before coaching at Indiana and leading the school to three national titles.
“I used to coach a little bit, and there’s nothing better than Ohio State basketball,” Knight said in the clip, which earned a roar from the Buckeyes faithful.
Not even sweaters and chair-throwing workouts?
The clip may have delighted fans but didn’t help the team, which lost to No. 1 Indiana, 81-68.
In a tweet, Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star said the message from Knight is from “a long time ago when OSU honored him at halftime” of a game. That means it’s most likely from a time when Knight was particularly aggrieved at Indiana, so, any time from 1995 and beyond.
