Oklahoma draws probation for violations

The NCAA has placed Oklahoma on three years of probation and handed out a $15,000 fine for major violations committed by the men’s basketball program.
The Sooners also had all 13 of their wins from the 2009-10 season vacated, were reduced one scholarship and will be limited in recruiting efforts.
The school proposed most of the penalties after former assistant Oronde Taliaferro violated NCAA rules by not reporting a player had received impermissible benefits and then later lying to investigators.
Oklahoma had already been on probation during that time for major violations regarding former coach Kelvin Sampson’s recruiting calls.
