And while Harrington would improve the Magic’s depth and team officials like his professionalism, the Magic likely will want to showcase him to potential trade partners as the season progresses.

At 32 years old, Harrington probably doesn’t fit into the rebuilding Magic’s long-term plans.

Although his $7.1 million salary for next season and his $7.6 million salary for 2014-15 are only 50 percent guaranteed, it would help the Magic’s salary-cap flexibility if the team could send him elsewhere.

Harrington could entice a contending team that believes it needs another big man.
