Not even the first place Chicago Bulls could stop the Indiana Pacers’ home winning streak.
The Pacers extended their streak at Bankers Life Fieldhouse to 14 games when they beat the Bulls 111-101 on Monday.
The victory was also huge in the standings for the Pacers, too. They regained the top spot in the Central Division because they hold a 2-0 edge in head-to-head matchups against the Bulls this season.
The Pacers host the Atlanta Hawks at the fieldhouse on Tuesday.
David West led all scorers with 29 points. Paul George added 21 points and 11 rebounds. Marco Belinelli came off the bench to score 23 points for Chicago.
The Bulls were 12-0 when they scored at least 100 points this season.
The Pacers had double-digit leads over the Bulls twice in the game, but their Central Division counterparts kept fighting throughout.
Chicago trailed by 11 points early in the first quarter, only to come back and lead by a point heading into the second quarter.
The Pacers led for most of the second quarter before heading into the half with the lead. The Pacers – again – pushed their lead to double digits, 12 points this time before Belinelli took advantage of Lance Stephenson’s poor defense to get the Bulls back in the game in the final quarter.
Belinelli made back-to-back baskets to get the Bulls to within four, 98-94, with less than two minutes left in the game.
The Pacers, meanwhile, went three straight possessions without scoring before George ended the drought by making a 3-pointer on the right wing to give them a 101-94 lead.
George Hill added 22 points and six assists for the Pacers.
