Where is the scoring going to come from?
As the Indiana Pacers have taken control of the Eastern Conference semifinals series vs. the New York Knicks with a 93-82 win in Game 4 at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse Tuesday, that’s the remaining question for the Knicks.
With the league’s leading scorer Carmelo Anthony being held to right at five points less than his season average and JR Smith in a miserable shooting slump, the Knicks seem to be out of answers in a series they were supposed to be the favorites to win.
“We’re making it tough for them,” said Pacers guard George Hill. “We’re going to give them nothing easy. When we play with fun and passion, we’re a heck of a team.”
The Pacers now lead the series 3-1 as it shifts back to New York’s Madison Square Garden for Game 5 at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Anthony had 24 points Tuesday, but shot 9-of-23 from the floor and fouled out with two minutes remaining. Smith actually hit a few shots in the fourth quarter when the game was out of reach, but he finished 7-of-22 from the floor and 19 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 36% and 29% from the three-point line.
Hill led all scorers with 26 points, and all-star forward Paul George had 18 points and 14 rebounds. David West had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
