Patrick Ewing: Bobcats Haven’t Called Yet
The Charlotte Bobcats are expected to ask the Magic for permission to interview assistant coach Patrick Ewing for their vacant head-coaching position, Yahoo! Sports reported. But Smith said the Bobcats had not made a formal request as of Tuesday night.
Ewing would be happy to interview.
“No one’s called yet, but I’d definitely have some interest in any job,” Ewing said about 2½ hours before tipoff Tuesday. “I’ve, no doubt, put in my apprenticeship working as an assistant coach for nine years now, so I’m just looking for an opportunity.”
Ewing has spent nine seasons as an NBA assistant coach — one with the Washington Wizards, three with the Houston Rockets and five under Van Gundy with the Magic.
