Staring down his largest pregame media contingent in sometime, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich defended his decision to rest four top players in tonight’s nationally televised game against the NBA champion Miami Heat.

“It’s the best thing for our team,” Popovich said.

“We’ve done this before in hopes of making a wiser decision, rather than a popular decision,” Popovich said.

“It’s pretty logical,” he added. “I don’t think it was a tough decision at all. In fact, it was made when the schedule came out.”
